Bike Your Brat to Work Day: The Madison Tradition Continues

Wisconsinites are known for a few things: Beer, cheese curds, Packers football and bratwursts. With a favorites list like this, it’s no wonder that the World’s Largest Brat Fest is held here in our hometown of Madison.

The kick-off event for this Memorial Day Weekend cele-brat-ion is Take Your Brat to Work Day, a tradition over a decade old. Cars line up and wait patiently for their turn in the brat-thru to snag hundreds (yes, hundreds) of bratwursts for their drooling co-workers, all while supporting local charities.

To give you an idea of how many brats are made and sold in a single morning, last year the final tally surpassed 21,000 brats. Hey, we told you – we like our brats around here.

Only one thing could make this even better. You guessed it: bikes. And so Bike Your Brat to Work Day (#BYBTWD) was born.

When

Friday, May 26th, starting at 6am until we buy up to six brats for the first 100 cyclists.

Where

The World's Largest Brat Fest at Willow Island

What

We'll buy the first 100 cyclists their first bratwurst for simply arriving at Willow Island by bike. Not only do cyclists roll away with up to 6 breakfast brats, they'll get to cut the line - a benefit that's almost as appealing as the bratwursts themselves.

And the bike friendliness of Brat Fest stretches beyond #BYBTWD. Bike parking for up to 200 bikes will be available all weekend long. Just remember to BYOL (bring your own lock) to keep your ride extra secure.
