SuperClamp HD 2 Bike Heavy Duty Tilting Base

This was a necessary expensive accessory to stop the bike handle hitting the back of my van. With this accessory I can now open the back of the van without removing the rack and the rack is much more stable in the Mount so the bikes aren't wobbling while I drive. I just wish it folded down inch more so it would clear the back door easier when there's no bikes installed.

When I purchased my Super Clamp 2 bike rack in 2016 it came with a 1.25 hitch. This 2 Tilting base is more solid. With the optional hitch tightener there is very little movement when going down the road.Make sure to order the hitch tightener. The release handle to tilt the rack if you have a liftgate to open is much easier to use compared to the handle on the 1.25 rack.The Tilting Base came with a spare lock. Make sure to ask for a lock and key that matches your original lock. The key number is stamped on the rack where the cables locks in place.

The HD rack wasn’t available when I got my rack so I got the standard duty model it works fine but it wobbled on rough roads. The HD version doesn’t wobble at all it came with the threaded adapter and a locking hitch pin…bonus…the locking hitch pin that came with the HD base uses the same key as my Superclamp.
