Light weight is the primary feature of this rack, and on that point is succeeds nicely! It is a no-frills product, doing what it is intended to do but nothing more than that.

The bike rack is well-made and convenient. I especially like that it can be used with an inch and a quarter trailer hitch receiver. I would have given the rack a five-star rating if it had a ramp to make my heavy ebike easier to load.

We love our Saris Freedom 2025 Bike Rack 2! The design is fast and easy to use, attractive, safe and secure. It is a perfect fit for our needs:

With the hitch inserted into the receptacle, per the instructions, it was easy to assemble. The wheel platforms easily fit our two adult bikes right out of the box. The factory-attached wheel straps cinch tightly and the loose ends can be attached to platform anchors. This small but elegant design detail keeps the straps tidy and out of the way both when the rack is empty and loaded. The wheel lock arms swing up and down easily; although the hook part is stiff and hard to slide down to lock the top of the tire.

We had to re-tighten both the threaded hitch pin and the rack bolts with a crescent wrench after our shakedown drive. Since then the rack is solid, no bike wobble at all; just for peace of mind, we run a bungee cord around the bikes from either side of the truck bed for long, bumpy drives. The rack has an attachment hole so you can cable your bikes to it for extra security.

If you are looking for a rack that you can put on and take off regularly, the locking pin might create a hassle as it requires a crescent wrench and some muscle to secure and remove. We have decided to keep the rack attached to the truck all the time. Our tailgate both swings open and lays down. When the rack is empty, we have easy access to the the truck bed whichever way the tailgate is open.
