Now what if we told you there was a better way? An easier way! A hitch bike rack that lets you access the rear of the car in one step – both with bikes and without.
Simply push the trigger to release the rack, glide away and boom – hatch access. When you’re done the same amount of (non) effort glides the rack upright and you’re good to go. It’s the same one-button, one-step, one-motion movement for when the hitch rack is fully loaded and when it’s not.
Featuring easy-to-load bike hold downs, best-in-class ratchet straps and integrated locks, you can speedily fasten your bikes to the Glide EX and know they’re secure as you head toward your next adventure.

We installed this on our Expedition a few months ago and left it on all summer. It is so convenient to tilt it down and get to the cargo area and it doesn't block much of the rear view. We've taken this on several road trips with 5 bikes attached and it performs really well. Having access to the rear hatch (even with 5 bikes mounted) is a game changer for road trips. It is easier to raise and lower (when loaded with bikes) than I anticipated. When not in use we keep the arm folded down and it's really low profile. The only downside is that it activates the backup sensor when in reverse. It is challenging to get 5 bikes on at a time but super easy to fit 1-3 at a time. With five bikes you really have to work to make them all fit. We have some smaller bikes for our kids that need the extra crossbar attachments when trying to fit 5 at a time. However once you get them all loaded it is really easy to lock them with the included cable and they feel very secure. The rack is stiff and doesn't move around even fully loaded. After a few longer trips with the bikes all loaded I did have to tighten the bolt attachment to the hitch and the lower pivot bolts to stiffen it back up but that seems like normal maintenance for a rack holding almost 150lbs of bikes.

We just recently returned from a 6000-mile cross-country road trip with our new rack. We carried two adult mountain bikes two kids' bikes and a strider. We had to get a little creative to get them all to fit but they did. Being able to lower the bikes to access the rear hatch whenever we needed was very helpful.

We were so pleased to be able to find this in stock. Finding a rack to accommodate 5 bikes is not easy. We arepleased with the rack. Installation the first time was a learnig curve for us but the second time was smoother. We really like the ability to adjust the rack position to allow the minivan trunk to open. However as a family with younger kids and women we needed to get adapters for all bikes except mine (adult male bike). That was a considerable additional expense.

Just installed it today for the first time and we got all 5 bikes loaded on with a little finessing. My only complaint is that we have 2 adult XS sized bikes and the frames aren't large enough to fit the rack's standard clips so we had to buy the Saris bike beams (each $50) to load them an upcharge I wasn't anticipating after spending this much on the rack already. Also my kids' bikes are too small to use the bike beams so we had a tough time getting their bikes in using the clips since the bikes are smaller than standard. But - we got all 5 loaded and drove the car a bit to test it out; went up to 65mph and they all stayed on board. Hoping it works when we vacation! Glide feature is awesome and install/setup was a breeze.

We purchased this bike rack over other 5 bike bike racks because of the ability to lower it and access the trunk with the bikes in place. This feature alone is worth the purchase. It saved us sooo many times on our trip. It is heavy to pull back up when loaded but my husband was able to do it. Still better than unloading the bikes each time. And it’s the only model under $700 that has that capability for 5 bikes.

The saris glide ex 5-bike rack is a top pick for families needing serious bike-hauling power without sacrificing access to the trunk. customers love how solid and well-built it is, with the tilt-down feature (even when fully loaded) being a total game-changer on road trips. it holds five bikes securely—even kids’ bikes and smaller frames—with a little creativity and some crossbar adapters. though it's heavy, users say it’s worth it for the convenience, quality, and peace of mind. overall, it’s a go-to rack for active families who want durability and ease of use in one solid package.
